Descripción: La tradición argentina y uruguaya del tango, hoy conocida en el mundo entero, nació en la cuenca del Río de la Plata, entre las clases populares de las ciudades de Buenos Aires y Montevideo. En esta región, donde se mezclan los emigrantes europeos, los descendientes de esclavos africanos y los nativos (criollos), se produjo una amalgama de costumbres, creencias y ritos que se transformó en una identidad cultural específica. Entre las expresiones más características de esa identidad figuran la música, la danza y la poesía del tango que son, a la vez, una encarnación y un vector de la diversidad y del diálogo cultural. Practicado en las milongas salas de baile típicas de Buenos Aires y Montevideo, el tango ha difundido el espíritu de su comunidad por el mundo entero, adaptándose a nuevos entornos y al paso del tiempo. Esa comunidad comprende hoy músicos, bailarines profesionales y aficionados, coreógrafos, compositores, letristas y profesores que enseñan este arte y hacen descubrir los tesoros vivos nacionales que encarnan la cultura del tango. El tango también está presente en las celebraciones del patrimonio nacional, tanto en Argentina como en Uruguay, lo cual muestra el vasto alcance de esta música popular urbana.

Rebecca E. Lytle Memorial Scholarship Concert: Tango!

Pianist and UCSD Marshall College Provost Cecil Lytle celebrates the "tango diaspora" with a piano performance of tango "miniatures" written by an eclectic mix of six European and Latin American composers. Μετά τον Tete, συγκλόνισε τον tango-κοσμο και η απώλεια του Osvaldo Zotto.
Ένας ακόμα μεγάλος milonguero μας άφησε, όμως δείγματα απ'το έργο θα είναι για πάντα μαζί μας, για να μας θυμίζουν το πόσο σπουδαίος ήταν.

Tete Rusconi... ένας απ'τους σπουδαίους! (ένα μικρό αφιέρωμα)

Ένας μεγάλος milonguero* πέθανε σήμερα το πρωί σε ηλικία 74 χρονών. Το όνομα του Pedro "Tete" Rusconi. Ο παρακάτω σύνδεσμος είναι από ένα tango-site:

Προς το τέλος της ιστοσελίδας υπάρχει ένα ανοιχτό γράμμα του Τετε προς τους απανταχού χορευτές τάνγκο. Σε ένα σημείο του γράφει χαρακτηριστικά:

"The tango is a feeling. It is not difficult to learn. Nor is it easy. But it is not danced by figures and steps. It is danced to the music. I know of no dancer anywhere in the world who dances without music. You cannot be mistaken for so long. Dancing without music, you will never learn tango."



Παρακάτω σας παραθέτω κάποια λόγια του Νίκου Δαλαμάγκα (ιδρυτικού μέλους και δασκάλου tango στην Χορευτική Ομάδα του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης (Χ.Ο.Π.Κ.) και στην ομάδα Tangoneon του Ηρακλείου) που είχε την τυχη να τον δει από κοντά:

"Αυτό που θυμάμαι όταν τον έβλεπα στις μιλόνγκας του Buenos Aires ήταν "η κοιλιά" του!!! ..που οδηγούσε τις κοπέλες να γέρνουν αναγκαστικά πάρα πολύ για να ακουμπήσουν στήθος, και ότι συχνότατα κατέβαζε και τα δύο του χέρια και οδηγούσε όλο το χορό έτσι (ό...χι στα show, σε απλές μιλονγκας). Μόνο με την αγκαλιά.
Επίσης θυμάμαι χαρακτηριστικά το χαμόγελο ευτυχίας της κάθε κοπέλας που χόρευε μαζί του (μικρές και μεγάλες)."

Σε επόμενες δημοσιεύσεις θα αναφερθούμε και σε άλλους μεγάλους milongueros της χρυσής εποχής του tango(1935-1955 περίπου).

*milonguero: 1)someone who dances tango socially in the milongas (tango dances), rather than focusing on 'show' tango; 2) someone who understands the importance of listening to the music in his/her dancing, and who values this musicality over the desire to do fancy steps; 3) someone who dances in 'close embrace,' in which the torsos of man and woman not only touch, but serve as a primary means of communicating with each other in leading and following the dance.
